AI decision support for executives: a worked board pack
Decision support is help with a decision that someone else will make and own. For an executive it means getting from a pile of emails, figures and opinions to a short paper that shows the options, what each costs, and what the evidence does and does not support.
It is different from an AI executive assistant that schedules meetings and drafts replies. ExecMind does not manage your calendar. It works on the file in front of you.
The problem: a messy thread
The example below is fictional. A mid-sized software company is deciding whether to raise prices for existing customers. The material is a 40-message email thread between sales, finance and the CEO, a churn spreadsheet, and two customer emails. Opinions are strong. Figures are scattered. Some are out of date.
Step 1: put the file down
The thread, the spreadsheet and the customer emails go onto the desk. The conversation starts with the question: should we raise prices for existing customers next quarter, and by how much?
Step 2: the evidence record
ExecMind keeps an evidence ledger. Each statement is tied to the document it came from. In the example, the ledger shows that the churn figure quoted in the thread comes from last year's spreadsheet tab, not the current one. That is recorded, not silently corrected. What the file does not establish, such as how price-sensitive the largest customers are, stays marked as missing.
Step 3: two paths and one recommendation
The desk writes two real options, each with its cost and what it would take to reverse, and one recommendation. It does not invent the binding number. If the decision depends on a figure the file does not contain, the paper says so and names who could supply it.
Step 4: the board pack
- The decision requested, on page one.
- The options, with costs and reversibility.
- The recommendation and its reasons.
- The evidence record, with sources.
- What is still unknown, and what would change the recommendation.
What ExecMind is, and is not
ExecMind is an institutional executive desk: conversation first, then Ask, Review or Deep when the decision needs a file. Quant and Pack sit beside the file. It is decision support, not legal, accounting or securities advice, and human judgment remains the authority. New accounts get 150 free credits.
